In my very first post I mentioned how much I love New Years & this includes Chinese New Year which officially started today. Chinese New Year is the most celebrated holiday in China, equivalent to our Western holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years combined. It is celebrated over a period of 15 days, ending with the Lantern Festival.
2015 is the "Year of the Goat" (or Sheep, or Ram). In actuality it is the "Year of the Yang", but yang in Chinese can be translated into English using any one of these words. Goat Years signify good luck &
Years signify good luck & prosperity for everyone, especially for people born in a Goat Year (1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015). Note however this is based on the Chinese calendar so you won't be a Goat if born at the beginning of 1931 and will be a Goat if you were born at the beginning of 1932 (and so on). In Chinese astrology, people born in certain years are known to embody the traits of that year's animal. For Goat people that means they are kind and peaceful.
I am a Pig. Sounds horrible, doesn't it? Not really. Below are the known traits for each animal in the Chinese zodiac.

Although I really don't put too much faith in any type of astrology, I must admit the "PIG" has me covered. Well, except the "optimistic" part. I'm really not all that optimistic.
Except on New Years!
And in the Year of the gentle & peaceful Goat the optimistic prediction for our world is that conflicts will finally cease & peace negotiations will begin.
Let's hope the Goat lives up to its nature!
